Welcome to Camopedia
Camopedia (Camouflage Encyclopedia) has evolved out of the work and research of Henrik Clausen and Eric H Larson. Our goal is to create a comprehensive, accurate, and academically-supported database referencing all of the major military and paramilitary camouflage patterns that have been used since the concept was first introduced at the beginning of the 20th century. We offer this as a useful reference for historians, government agencies, military personnel, collectors, artists & designers, airsoft enthusiasts, military modelers & others with an interest in camouflage design, development, and history.
Primary sources for the information presented here include: data from official publications or nomenclature, photographs, physical specimens (with provenance), published material, and unpublished material from academic or military sources that can be verified. Although we shall do our best to cite references when appropriate, all text presented here is our own and we take full responsibility for any errors or mistakes encountered. Except in instances where we have used photographs in the public domain, this website and all it contains is copyrighted 2010-2011 -- All rights reserved.
We gratefully acknowledge the assistance of fellow collectors, historians, military personnel, and published authors - including members of the International Camouflage Uniform Society (ICUS) - for their support, contributions and assistance in clarifying data for these articles.
Original submissions, corrections and additional information are welcomed and appreciated, and individuals whose input substantially improves the content of this site will be credited in the appropriate section(s). We encourage anyone with clear photographic examples of any patterns not represented (or those represented only by photographs borrowed from the public domain) to submit them so we may add to and improve the site. Any data to be considered for inclusion on this site should be appropriately documented, or references cited.
